I was practicing nursing then, we have always called it “mersa” and written out MRSA, always, I am 47, no one ever said it was a secret, but it was more rare. Thank you.

All of those facts r true, EXCEPT…. That it was a NEW stran of staph when it became known 2 the public. I’m 37yrs old, at 13 I volunteered at The VA hospital wknds, holiday & summer vacations. Yes, 24yrs ago MRSA was a well kept secret I guess, yet I KNO wit certainly it was around then & more ppl than u probably think had it. Enough in which the floor I volunteered on hada quarantine 1 of the 4 wings, (sections) off jus 4 those patients. Altho it was not pronounced as “MRSA”, it was “M-R-S-A”.
