Beyonce Just Revealed Her High-Carb Diet to The World
Beyoncé recently announced that she has taken on an entirely vegan lifestyle. She shared her new way of life with the world in February, explaining that she has struggled for many years with all different kinds of diets. While her newfound way of eating did begin with a jumpstart diet, it is designed to be a long-term, sustainable standard of living. Beyoncé and Jay-Z first did a vegan cleanse in December of 2013, but Bey has now made a total commitment to her health through an entirely vegan diet. She claims that this vegan approach has been considerably more sustainable than any of the other diets she’s tried throughout her life. “I am not naturally the thinnest woman. I have curves,” she said to Good Morning America, “I’m proud of my curves, and I have struggled since a young age with diets.” She went on to explain how this was the first diet to actually keep the weight off. In addition to sustained weight loss, Beyoncé also boasts that the diet also got the weight off very quickly and has given her firmer skin.
Her newfound vegan lifestyle began when she embarked on “The 22-Day Revolution” back in 2013, as documented by her Instagram account. The 22-Day Revolution was created by her trainer, Marco Borges. The diet, explained in his book of the same name with a foreword by Beyoncé herself, boasts the ability to transition you to complete veganism in a mere 22 days. Borges explains how it takes just takes 21 days to break a habit. So, on the 22nd day of the diet, your habit of eating non-vegan food will be broken. During the 22 days of jumpstarting your diet to an overall plant-based lifestyle, Borges suggests eating three meals, exercising at least 30 minutes, and drinking lots of water every day.
Beyoncé’s trainer has steered her towards an 80/10/10 lifestyle, meaning that 80% or more of her calorie consumption is from fruit and vegetable carbohydrates. 10% is healthy fats, such as nuts or oils, and 10% is protein from plants. Believe it or not, there are hundreds of processed vegan items out there, but this approach eliminates the over-consumption of processed foods and encourages your diet to be 80% fresh fruits and vegetables. The 22-Day Revolution boasts that this kind of approach makes the diet easier to maintain in the long run.
This new commitment to a completely vegan way of life has so inspired Beyoncé that she has actually partnered with her Los Angeles trainer to launch a new vegan meal delivery service called 22 Days Nutrition. Ranging from $9-$16, the organic meals also exclude gluten, dairy, and soy. One to three meals can be delivered right to your door daily, depending on the meal plan chosen. Bey and Borges recognize that Veganism is an intimidating undertaking, and they’re making it as easy as possible by bringing the complete meals to you. Always a pillar of strength and grace, Beyoncé is once again encouraging women by example to be stronger and healthier.
