Have you used medicinal plants instead of a medical recipe?
Have you used medicinal plants instead of a medical recipe?
Why have we almost totally dispensed with natural remedies to the most common conditions? Has a doctor ever recommended a medicinal plant instead of a prescription?
Perhaps because of ignorance, laziness or because pharmaceutical companies invest billions of euros each year in advertising, financing of scientific journals, conferences, gifts and conferences in which the benefits of the new “products of the market” are sold.
Many of the medicinal plants can be grown at home or in the garden, in addition to providing a variety of colors and very pleasant smells, they offer their multiple medicinal properties to make different home remedies that will help us strengthen our health naturally.
The objective result is that many more drugs are consumed than necessary. Up to 95% is dispensable, explains the director of the Nordic Cochrane Center, Peter C. Gøtzsche.
Every day there are more people who resort to the different types that we have in each region, because the therapeutic properties they have are impressive, avoiding all kinds of side effects, marking an important difference with conventional medicines. An excess that hurts all those who believe they do the best for their health. In addition, medications have side effects that cause new problems more serious than we imagined:
Medicines are the third cause of death, behind cardiovascular diseases and cancer.
Interestingly, the most common health disorders can be treated with safe therapies, such as medicinal plants. We have this selection of the most used and effective:
Eucalyptus: The use of eucalyptus as a medicinal plant is relatively recent since it dates from the 18th century. Mainly, it is recommended for those diseases that affect the respiratory tract, such as, among others, the flu, asthma or colds.
Fennel: The medicinal properties of fennel are varied, an aromatic plant with yellow flowers from the Mediterranean. It is usually used seeds and the grass itself, especially for digestive problems, respiratory and also as an aphrodisiac.
Boldo: For the liver and the gallbladder. The Boldo, Boldea, Cimarron, curly lemon or lemongrass (Peumus boldus) is a popular plant used mainly to treat liver ailments and indigestion. The whole plant gives off a characteristic smell of lemon and camphor
Melissa or Lemon Balm: Melissa, also known as lemon balm, is a plant with many health properties. It is known especially for being a remedy for the state of stress, nervousness or anxiety since it acts as a natural relaxant if you drink it in an infusion.
Chamomile: The main properties of this herb are anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, antibacterial and sedative. In addition, it has good digestive benefits, so it is recommended to drink a cup of chamomile tea after eating to relieve pain, calm the heaviness and even in cases of ulcers or gastritis.
Valerian: It acts as a sedative agent, relaxing the nervous system and the brain. Unlike other tranquilizers, this plant does not exhaust or weaken those who consume it, so it is usually recommended to take it mainly in people who have trouble falling asleep.
